After The Dream Oven returned to the surreal plane of nonexistence in 2014, Marshall James Kavanaugh set out on the road performing poetry around the country. Obviously, the essence of mobility required a bit of downsizing in the TV department. From 2015 and onwards the TV Altar has been a mainstay for the performance of poetry around the country. Adding layers of multimedia that accent every syllable the TVs propel the listener into different realms not usually found at a poetry reading.
The TV Altar creates a sacred space amidst the ramshackle living room of DIY Venue and stuffy interior of old used bookstores. With light and colors that fascinate, the audience is transported towards illusionary places not yet seen in the words on their own. It is a mind expanding experience, delivering the flames of a CRT and filling the room with ambiance both heard and seen. |
